I believe that what influences students and teachers to use technology in the classroom is society. I believe that because society has evolved into such a technologically advanced present, that it pushes those living in its era to use it as well. In terms of technology in the classroom, along with society pushing for its use, technology helps the process of educating students. Technology helps teachers teach in a more hands on way through certain functions.

One standard that I found to stand out to me was that of standards for educators. I never thought of educators as people who are still learning. Typically, when I think of a educator I do not attach learning with them. I realized though, to become a good educator you must stay up to date on your material. Along with the material the educator is responsible for teaching, educators have to be somewhat efficient in the new technology used to teach students in society today. For example, something as simple as Canvas, a educator needs to know how to go about using it, and being proficient in it for the sake of his or her students. The act of "exploring proven and promising practices" is how educators learn and grow in order to keep up with the everyday changing society we live in.

The term "digital native" is used to describe someone who is extremely efficient in technology. In today's day in age, the term "digital native" typically applies to the youth of the world. This term applies to them because of the leverage the youth holds over the elderly in terms of technological proficiency. What it really means to be a "digital native" is having an advantage over the generation over you because you are able to both operate and fully use the functions of present day technology. I personally agree with the terminology and its meaning because I find that people such as my mom are not able to perform as much as someone like my brother may be able to on different technological platforms. Along with my mom, I have seen my teachers use technology which supports the term "Digital Immigrants". For example, I have seen teachers put certain things on canvas in the wrong file because they are not proficient enough in using it to properly place the material. I anticipate for the next generation to be more proficient than mine is in current day technology. What the next generation grows up using in terms of technology will automatically make them more proficient in it than the older generations. Ultimately, the advancement of technology is inevitable and will continue to happen. As people, we can only hope we are able to keep up.

  1. I love your writing but my suggestion is to give your blog a title. It can be as easy as blog #1. Just a bit easier to navigate for the audiences.
"teacher is also a student" is also one of my favorite ones. Learning is a life-long process. Being a teacher does not mean that we stop taking in new knowledge and start to disseminate knowledge. I constantly learn from you guys and it helps me to be a better teacher.
